Santa's Elves and Christmas Bells~Are you ready?

Well, as most of you know, that even though I loath winter, Christmas is my favorite holiday.  I love drawing the Christmas/winter seasons as snowmen are one of my favorite subjects!  Snowmen are just so lovable.  Don't you think?  My love of snowmen goes all the way back to "Frosty the Snowman".  I used to love that cartoon at Christmas, and I have to admit, at almost 42 years of age, if I can catch that cartoon around the holiday season, I'm sitting right there in front of the television with a bowl of popcorn and soda watching wide eyed, just like a 5 year old child.
Do you have a favorite holiday cartoon?  Share them here.........

Happy Monday!

The world is but a canvas to the imagination!
What did you do this weekend? Well, I finished up a couple of custom drawings and began working on some new collections, cards and singles.  I was sketching away on the sun porch most of the day Saturday, enjoying the almost fall weather.  It's still been so warm here in Virginia.  I wish fall would get here!  It's been so nice in the morning, but the days have been more like summer, being in the 80's.  Could someone please send some autumn breezes my way!

As I was working on new collections, I dug in to my long list of requests from customers and one of the big ones, was children painting, so that is the collection that I'm working on right now.  This sweet little gal is just one of those images.  There are many more sketches waiting to come to life.  I'd love to hear your ideas as well.  So be sure to drop me a note or simply post a comment if you wish to add any of your thoughts.
Have a Happy Monday!

Honey Bees

Not sure when and how I'm going to release this little guy, but I had to share him with you. The bees are after his honey, and I'm not quite sure if he's afraid, or if he just doesn't want to share.
What do you think?

It Can't Be!

It Can't Be!

Well, even though we have a son, this was his expression yesterday evening, knowing that school started again this morning. He was filled with dread knowing that there was no more sleeping in until Saturday, and that he hadn't finished reading his summer reading book. I try to always remind him, that these are the easiest days of his life, and he'd better enjoy them. Life only gets more complicated and demanding as you get older. I'm waiting for him to finally realize that.

I have always loved Mary Engelbreit, as most of you know, and I love this piece from her book The Art and the Artist. She always seems to capture the thoughts of children and puts them in to such wonderful works of art. This one just happens to be perfect for the anxiety that our son was feeling last evening and will be feeling this morning. Oh well, life goes on!

Oh, and don't forget to get your digital classics. They'll be gone tomorrow!!

Sunday, September 6, 2009

Now don't throw a little temper tantrum! You knew it would happen one day. Tuesday, September 8th (midnight) will be the last chance you'll have to get the Digital classics. Come Wednesday morning they will all be gone. All of the sets are just $1 each, so get them while they're still available.

But don't be sad. There will be new and exciting things that will replace them. It's time to move on. Some if not all of those graphics are at least 8 years old. Wow. Has it really been that long?! Oh well, I hope that I've gotten better with age, like a good, fine, wine!

This is my idea of a perfect Labor Day! (from Mary Engelbreit's image It's Good to Be Queen)
It's quiet here in the Alger household this morning. Our son is still asleep, and hubby is out of town, so I'm enjoying a nice cup of coffee on the back porch in peace, except for the occasional bird or dog bark.
I got up for church this morning and realized that there was only one service today at 11. I normally help every Sunday at the preschool desk during the 9:15 service, but since there is only the late service today, I decided to stay at home and just watch it on TV. I do have that luxury.

The kids will be back at school on Tuesday, and with tomorrow being a holiday, I think that I will just spend the day relaxing and enjoying the rest of the holiday weekend. I don't actually think that it will turn out like ME's image, but it is something to shoot for, I guess.
Have a great Sunday!

Have a great weekend!!!
